Eclipse Energy UK PLC have signed an agreement with Associated British Ports to further evaluate the potential development of wind energy resources within the ABP South Wales estate. The projects have been named Gwynt-yr-Hafan. The project will evaluate areas within the ports of Newport, Cardiff, Barry, Port Talbot and Swansea, which were previously identified by the Welsh Assembly Government as potential ‘brown-field’ development sites in their study “The potential for wind power in urban, industrial and commercial sites of Wales”.Over the next year Eclipse will be undertaking a number of environmental and technical feasibility studies as well as consulting with local stakeholders prior to putting forward detailed proposals.
