Peter Schwarz - Non-executive Director

Peter began his career over 30 years ago as a geologist with the Oil Service Company of Iran and holds a B.Sc. in Geology from University College, London and an M.Sc in Petroleum Geology from Imperial College, London. He then served the next 15 years with Cities Service International and Amerada Hess Limited in a variety of executive roles in London and Norway, focusing on North Sea and European operations prior to joining BG Exploration and Production in 1990.

During the next 10 years Peter held the positions of General Manager Exploration, UK & Europe, Director, Strategy and Planning, and Country Manager for BG’s UK upstream business. This was followed by 5 years as General Manager for Japanese conglomerate Marubeni’s UK exploration and production business. In 2005 Peter was appointed Chief Executive of Virgo Oil & Plc, an independent oil and gas exploration company, prior to its sale to Encore Oil Plc in early 2007.

Since 2004 Peter has provided advice on business development and commercial matters, through his company Finite Energy Limited to a number of UK, US and Canadian companies.
Peter is a former Chairman of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain, a former Director of the Oil & Gas Independent’s Association, a Certified AAPG Petroleum Geologist and is a member of the Geological Society and Energy Institute.
