East Irish Sea Discovery Data

Gas was initially discovered by well 113/29-2, which was drilled by Amoco Corp. in 1992 to a terminal depth of 7,612 ft in the Carboniferous. The well tested gas from the Triassic Ormskirk Sandstone.

The 113/28-2 discovery was made by Clyde Expro Plc in 1998. The well was plugged and abandoned as a gas discovery after testing gas from the Triassic Ormskirk Sandstone reservoir.

Wind Data

The wind speed distribution map below shows that the East Irish Sea provides an adequate year-round wind resource for the concept. The preliminary estimate of annual wind speed at 60 meters above sea level is 8.0 m/s.

Site specific data will be enhanced by further studies and/or offshore recording equipment.
